    Ackee & Saltfish
Coming from a Jamacian background, I have tried so many different Jamacian foods, but one of my favorites are ackee and saltfish. Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica, it grows on an evergreen tree that grows about 10-meters tall. This dish is usually served as breakfast alongside fried dumplings, it can also be eaten with hard dough bread, fried plantain or white rice. Ackee is made very often in my household, especially when my family gets together.  Ackee and saltfish is something my great-grandmother ate as a child, so did my grandmother, and my mother. When my grandmother comes to visit us, we make ackee and saltfish together, my siblings and I try our best to learn the recipe from both our grandmother and our mother, so we can keep the tradition going. Even though I'm not the best cook, I enjoy helping my family out in the kitchen to make a dish that keeps us together. . Since ackee is a fruit, before you cook it, you must rinse and drain them. While you drain out your ackee, you can cut your peppers, your onions, and  prepare your seasonings. When the ackee is done draining, you can put it in a frying pan to let it cook, later add your cut vegetables and seasonings. Once my family and I are done eating this amazing meal, we sit back and reminisce of  some of the greatest  memories we’ve shared over the years, and this is why this meal is special to me.
