This image is of my grandpa Guadalupe. It was because of him that my father began his journey to the United States. My grandpa would often come to the U.S. to work, he would work in fields during certain seasons, then go back to Mexico. Once my father got married to my mother, he was struggling to provide for them after he completed his service in the military. In 1992 my dad decided to follow my grandpa's footsteps and come to the U.S. to work. It was never his plan to stay here, but after a few months of having no luck finding a job, my mom decided to fly over and help him. My brother was 2 years old when they moved over, and after a while, they decided to stay permanently to be able to give my brother a better life. They settled down in southern CA and have been here ever since.
