A Claddah Ring
Throughout my life, I have received many items that have huge monetary values, but the most important object I have ever received is a Claddagh ring from my grandfather. This ring can be purchased in a jeweler for less than $100 but, it has sentimental value for me. A Claddagh ring is a traditional Irish ring that represents love, loyalty, and friendship. The hands on the ring represent friendship, the heart represents love, and the crown represents loyalty. After many years of wearing this ring, my grandfather decided it was time to pass it onto me. Though I did not realize its importance when I was seven years old, over the past few years I have held this ring very close to me. On special occasions, I wear the ring on my right hand which symbolizes love and loyalty to my grandfather. When I am older and married the ring will be on my left hand, the same way my father and grandfather wore it, and the ring will take on a whole new meaning. It will always symbolize the love, friendship, and respect I have for my grandfather but, now it will symbolize my marriage to my wife. The respect I have for my grandfather cannot be matched by anything which is why the ring will always symbolize respect and love no matter who has the ring or where the ring is.
