Table Cloth

My object is a Norwegian table cloth. I know it came with my great grandmother when she immigrated to America. We take the tablecloth out only at Christmas because on the table cloth it says “god Jul” (God Yul) which means Merry Christmas in Norwegian. The tablecloth is made of cotton so we never use it for eating because we don't want it to get dirty. The tablecloth has the christmas colors on it. The red is the outline with the wreath in the middle.
I chose this object because it reminds me of my Norwegian heritage. The tablecloth shows me that my culture is important because it shows me that I have an important family. My object is connected to my great grandmother when she bought it from Norway which was then passed to my grandmother and then my mother. My great grandmother immigrated in 1904 but her husband immigrated in 1901.For me,the tablecloth represents the time my family came to America.
I do wonder if she immigrated during christmas time or how long did it take for her to immigrate? What vessel did she take when she traveled? I chose this object because it reminds me of my Norwegian heritage and I am proud to have this object in my family and I can't wait to pass it down to my future children.
