My mother was born in Sweden. When she lived in Sweden architectural design was a big form of art. She started by doing interior design (Svenska interior). She later came to the United States where the architecture isn't quite the same and the art forms are much different here. She wanted to continue doing her design over in the U.S but it was very hard considering the modern-day architecture we see today. She started building and painting miniature items that are collectible. Soon enough she found a big consumer base and started to make more and more. She designed a lot of them after the house she lived in and all the buildings that were in her hometown. Currently, in my house, she has made an effort to bring her history to where we currently live. We have many interesting original styles of Swedish furniture in our house and it's all thanks to her bringing Swedish design over into the U.S with her.
