Religious Arabic Poster

Relationship: Child of im/migrant
Group:

My mother brought over this poster with her when she emigrated from Syria to the United States. The poster is written in Arabic and the meaning of its words is “God shall bless this house.” The poster was originally hung in my mother’s home in Syria, but now it hangs in our house in the US. The poster has a lot of sentimental value for my mother. Every time she looks at the poster she is reminded of her childhood back in Syria. She is reminded of the faith her father possessed when he purchased this poster, because he truly believed that God was the only one that can bring blessing to a household. With the poster, my mother tries to bring the same faith her father provided to her own household and pass it down to me and my siblings.
