Jade Buddha Necklace

My object is a Jade Buddha necklace . My necklace is from my trip to Hong Kong. It is used for good luck. It is used in most of Asia. My necklace is made out of all jade, which is a light green, with a red string. Jade and red are good luck signs. Buddhism was created and founded by Siddhartha Gautama. The Buddha’s body is rotund, his face is peaceful and also quite round. My object is important to me because it tells me about my family’s culture and religion. It teaches me about Buddhism. The principle belief of Buddhism is to treat everything and everyone with respect. It is connected to my maternal grandmother because that is my grandmother’s religion. I celebrate my culture with my maternal side of the family on Chinese holidays. My grandmother and grandfather came here in the early 1970’s from China. They came here in order to get better opportunities and to start a family. I am very proud of my Chinese background as much as I am of my paternal Haitian side.
