Huayruro Bracelet

This is a huayruro bracelet. This bracelet is made out of the huayruro seeds that come from a native tree. This bracelet has its meaning to protect from evil. Peruvians consider this an amulet of protection. This is very significant to me by how it reminds me how much sacrifice my mom did for her family and brings so many memories of my culture. My mom came to the United States in order to be able to bring a better future to her family. She had to leave her family behind in Peru in order to do this. When my mom arrived in the United States, she struggled very much from sleeping on floors, working tough jobs, and be able to provide for her family. She made very huge sacrifices and luckily everything paid off. My mom was able to become a citizen. By this time, I was almost going to be born and my mom was able to buy her own house. She even helped her mom and sisters/brothers get their citizenship. I remember my mom would always wear huayruro bracelets or even necklaces. My mom said she loved wearing it not just because of its looks but because she believes it would protect her, especially through the journey see took immigrating here into the United States. This is a very big part of her and has become a very part within my life as well. This is something that has been passed down in our family. I remember I would wear one being very small and still do now. I have even passed it down to my little ones. It comes from my culture and has a very huge significance to me I thought it was very important for my daughters to be a part of it as well.
