Five years ago, I arrived in the United States, a country unknown to me. This wonderful country opened its doors to me, to a new beginning and a future full of hope and opportunities. I started looking for my first job, which I found in a restaurant. After receiving my first paycheck, I was able to purchase a chain with a pendant: a gold angel with silver wings. This chain is important to me because I got it with the hope of being able to give it to my son, whom I had to leave in my country of origin, promising him that one day we would be together. When my son was 10 years old, I left him alone in the care of my older sisters who help me give him love, and educate him to be a respectful person with good values. Currently my son is already a teenager, but I have not been able to fulfill my promise to him because it has not been easy for all of them. But I know that one day everything will change. Every day when I look at my chain, I think of him and hope that we will be together next Christmas.
